JAST Policy on the Protection of Personal Information

The PrivacyMark System is a system which confers a “PrivacyMark” to businesses and organizations that are recognized as taking appropriate measures to protect personal information, and it grants them the right to display a PrivacyMark in relation to their business activities. This system conforms to the Japan Industrial Standards (JIS Q 15001: [Personal Information Protection Management System – Requirements]). JAST, as a PrivacyMark certified company, declares that it does the following in order to ensure appropriate protection of personal information.

  1. With regard to the appropriate acquisition, use and provision of personal information in consideration of the content and scale of business, we perform appropriate handling of personal information and only obtain that which is necessary for achievement of a specified purpose of use.
  2. We comply with all personal information handling-related laws and ordinances, national guidelines and other norms.
  3. We take appropriate preventive and corrective action with regard to the unauthorized access, loss, destruction, falsification, leakage, etc., of personal information.
  4. We have established a point of contact for receiving and handling personal information-related complaints and consultations.
  5. We are continually improving our personal information protection-related management system.
  6. With regard to personal information which has been processed such that it cannot be used for personal identification nor allow for the reconstruction of said personal information (anonymously processed information), JAST has established and adheres to guidelines for the appropriate handling of information from the standpoint of strictly protecting customer privacy.

At JAST, we make use of personal information for the following purposes.

  1. Personal information about customers
    Provide information about seminars, events, etc.; provide support for products, services, etc.; handle inquiries
  2. Personal information about companies which transact business with JAST
    Maintain correspondence; perform negotiations; implement agreements; request performance of obligations
  3. Personal information provided by entities which have consigned business to JAST
    Implement agreements with the consigning entity
  4. Claim data provided by entities which have consigned medical big data business to JAST
    Check claims received by the consigning entity; promote and support insurance business activities
  5. Personal information about shareholders
    Exercise rights and fulfill obligations under the Companies Act; provide convenience; implement shareholder measures; perform shareholder management
  6. Personal information about job applicants
    Make hiring decisions; contact and process applicants
  7. Other personal information obtained for an expressly stated purpose of use to which the information provider has consented
    Carry out the expressly stated purposes of use

We accommodate “Disclosure Requests and Other Requests” from persons, or their representatives, about whom we have retained personal data or for whom we have a record of third-party provision.

(Note) “Disclosure Requests and Other Requests” refers to any request for notification of purpose of use, information disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, cessation of use, information removal or cessation of provision to third parties made by a person about whom we have retained personal data. Personal information requests are limited to the retained personal data or records of third-party provision.

Regarding the use of cookies

At JAST, we use cookies with some of the services on our sites in order to provide a higher level of service to our customers.

Handling of Anonymously Processed Information

When using appropriate processing methods conforming to relevant laws and ordinances to create anonymously processed information (as defined in Article 2-9 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information; the same shall apply hereafter) which prevents personal identification or reconstruction of personal information, we perform appropriate processing in line with standards established under the Personal Information Protection Committee Rules and implement safety control measures to ensure appropriate handling of said information.
Additionally, when providing anonymously processed information to third parties, we publicly disclose what items of information are being provided and the method of provision, as well as expressly indicate to third parties that it is anonymously processed information.
